Once again, alot to type...this is the first time i have been able to actually find a computer and have the time to write anything down (thank god i have been keeping a diary!!!!)
Where i left off we were still in Cuzco... I ended up staying there for 9 days in total, which wasnt too bad, i went to an awesome restaurant about four times, called Jack´s. The food was amazing and so were their NON-alcoholic drinks!! Day 9 we just wondered around the town and there was a big funeral going on because the guide that died on the Inca trail was from Cuzco...
Day 10 the people that didnt go on the alternative trek forked out 100sols (which is like 20 squid) and went crazy at a supermarket to then go to a community and help people who were affected by all the flooding. It was a good day, nice t6o be able to help people, but it was so sad because we saw first hand all of the damage that was caused and how little people can do because they are so poor :(
Day 11 i was SLIGHTLY hungover, but had to get on with it because we went quad biking!! it was awesome, but i got really bad sunburnt hands - only just better now!! The next few days invovled...not alot...mainly eating and drinking, but we also did a tour of the Sacred Valley which was cool.
Day 16 was the day we finally left Cuzco, and day 17 was when we started our excursion onto Lake Titicaca to do ´homestay´. The Lake was stunning! So calm, and you could just see nothing for miles...wouldnt have thought it was just a lake!! The homestay was a bit difficult because neither of us spoke Spanish, let alone Amari...but Jodie took her spanish dictionary, so it kind of helped. The next day we said goodbye to our families and headed to the Uros Islands, which are the floating islands. THAT was very wierd...they live on piles of reeds, but it was interesting to see how this was done....Puno turned out to be a late one because it was a carnival in the centre. Unfortunately a couple, Nick & Sarah thought they had their passports stolen so had to go back to lima. we thought we wouldnt see them again which was really sad (later turned out they had misplaced them on a boat and they were handed in, so they´re back now!!!).
Days 19 & 20 were when we started in Bolivia...we began in La Paz, highest city in the world but i didnt really like the place very much; Bolivia however is so cheap its unbelievable... 1 Boliviano = 10p!!!!!!! We took a walk to the famous San Pedro prison (look it up) and we met a prisoner called Sebastien, who began talking to us about the prison!! This was also the day when we met our new tour guide. Her name is Ash and she is really really nice! We went for our first dinner together, but had to be quick because we were going on a bus to Oruro. We stayed the night in Oruro and had to then get on a train to go to Uyuni to do the salt flats, which were amazing...
I´ll have to carry on another time because someone else needs the computer, but its alaways non stop and i´m still having a laugh...trying desperately to get a tan but i just seem to turn red... hopefully i´ll improve in Brazil!!!! :P xx
