Sad to leave Hotel Pierre but headed to beautiful Venice!
Stopped (on a whim) in the town of Ferrara, home of the original Ferrari manufacturing plant. It's a sleepy, tourist-free town and we drove to the center, stopped, and asked for a restaurant suggestion. Had a great meal and laughed with the waitresses over Daniel's smiley face pizza crust. They even brought our cappuccino's with a smiley face!
Soon we made it to the Hotel Adele, dropped our stuff and headed into Venice. We walked all over for a few hours, lots of stores and lots of scenic views. An entire city built on small islands with a maze of canals threaded through the city which requires more than 400 bridges to permit foot traffic.
We took the requisite gondola ride and even had our guide sing "O solo Mia" as we passed under the bridges and through the waterways. The timing was perfect as it was just getting dark and all the city light illuminated the experience.
Had a great time, laughing and joking through the evening.
