Ok so Kate and I are in Agueas Calientes and planning on walking ro taking the bus up to Machu Picchu early in the am. We want to walk but we spent the last three days rafting the Apirumac River and came back with tons of mosquito bites. Kates feet are pretty bad and swollen.. so we may take the bus.
The river was completely awesome. There were Class 4 and 5 rapids through the whole trip. It was also a lot of hard work and our guide was a little bit crazy. Kate and I realized tihs the first night we set up camp and he was butt naked in the raft. Kate described him accurately when she said that if he told us he had been raised by wolves, she would belive him.
A few other thoughts: Loki Hostel...best place ever. Mosquitos suck. You can get free food if you argue with the restaurants. Also Kate and I ordered cuy whish is a roasted guinea pig...when they brought it out it still had its teeth and whiskers. I´m not lying I thought it tasted like chicken but I didnt eat very much. We took the head off and put it on aanother plate because we thought you threw it away but the waiter brought it back in a ToGo box. So we brought it back to the hostel. I´m not sure what happened to it after that.
This has to be short cause Aguas Claientes is a tourist trap and everytihng is overpriced, including the internet cafe. Also, went fourwheeling day before the river trip. Cool too, and we drove on the main road at night time which was an experience. Gotta go buy our Machu Picchu tickets. Ciao!
