Today began with Chelsea yelling at me to get my nappy self out of bed. Apparently it isn´t any easier to wake up on this side of the world. After a quick breakfast at the Magic Bean, we headed to Coffee&Toffee to meet our fellow travel companions and begin the day´s adventure.
The first person we met was the other American, *Paul* , and he quickly proved to be quite the caricature of an American Tourist. Heart of gold and completley clueless. A native bostonion, Paul has seen more of the world than I could imagine and has over 10 marathons under his belt. He and chelsea bonded over running, but I simply enjoyed listening to him regale the stories of his travels. Next was the couple from Hong Kong. They were incredibly nice and spparently they were named Jack and Kimberly. We were a haphazard group, but all excited to see what the day would bring.
Our guide *Marcello* spoke english, bust since I refused to use english...was very helpful and understanding with my broken spanish. After about two hours of roads that only road seemed to climb higher and higher into the mountains- we reached our destination. Mindo, Ecuador. However after several minutes, Chelsea and I both decided that the name should really be *Paradiso* This place really is heaven on earth, and I am almost certain will be the future address of Chelsea´s rainforest hut. (Note form Chelsea as she is editing this: IT IS PARADISE AMD I AM MOVING THERE.
We spent over an hour zipplining through the jungles with two guides who were more than willing to show us how to do tricks on the line- aka going upside down *La Mariposa* and Chelsea´s favorite *Superman*... I´m sure you can imagine. I´m also pretty sure that I found my first soul mate today. Me gusta los hombres de Ecuador, especialmente de la selva.
After a long while of ziplining we rafted down the river in intertubes. Apparently it is low season for the river, but it didn´t make much of a difference. Needless to say- Allegany just can´t compare. Videos for that later. This was also when Chelsea found her soulmate. I´m not sure if she caught his name... but I know she´ll be back.(Once again: yes I will be back... it was love at first sight and he totally wanted me. Mindo is my new home)
After the river trip we headed back to Quito with a quick stop in the middle of the earth. Overall it was an incredible day. I enjoyed my conversations with Marcello and learning about the world from a completley new light.(Kate was in love with Marcello and he was like 30...it was kinda gross)
Alright, I am going to sign off for now b/c chels just got her cola light and needs some company at the table. Off to the Galapagos tomorrow, and I´m still wondering why people don´t do things like this more often. (I don´t know why either Kate...but this trip is only 3 days old and I can´t believe how incredible it is.)
