On the 29th march we moved to our starting hotel for our roam china tour where we checked in and met our group in the evening. We found we were in a group of 15 and met our tour leader Louis and then went out for dinner to start to get to know each other. It was really good to eat as a group again as we got to try more things and that evening we had dumplings which were really good. The next day we set out early for the great wall of china however the weather was terrible but we still walked from points 14 to 20 although we saw nothing but mist! It was very difficult walking on the steep slopes as it was very wet and slippery and it was very disappointing that we couldnt see the wall. That evening we went to see a kung fu show which was really good and then all went for dinner. The following day we had a lie in and then joined the group for lunch after they had been to the forbidden city. We had duck for lunch which was good but not the best we'd had. That afternoon we decidided to book ourselves onto another tour to the wall for the following day as we really wanted to see it! That evening we took some of the group to the night market we had been to where we ate some sea snake and chicken hearts which were suprosingly good! Having got up very early the next morning we set out on our tour to the great wall. Our tour involved going to a jade carving factory first and then to the ming tombs and then finally we got to the wall. The weather couldnt have been better and we got a cable car up to section 6 and walked along to section 14 and back again so we could then get the toboggan back down which was really fun. We then had lunch at the wall and were then taking to a silk museum which was quite interesting and then onto a tea ceremony where we got to try four different teas for free! Overall the day was really enjoyable and we were so glad to have gone back to get some pictures of the wall. When we arrived back at the hotel we had an hour to get our things together in order to catch the 7.30pm train to Shanghi. The train wasnt quite as nice as what we had got used to in russia as they were open compartments with 6 beds in each, however they were still comfortable and quite cosy.
