Sunday 29 June 2014 Vienna

This morning we arrived to take the Segway tour and there was just 4 of us, two Canadians and us. Our tour guide Kasper was young and enthusiastic and once we were Segway trained we set off to tour the city.
The advantages of the Segway are the distances you can travel in a short time and Vienna is quite large. The tour concentrated on the Ring road around the old city where a lot of the government buildings are, we had a lovely morning and would recommend this type of tour as the Segways are very easy to use. They travel at a maximum speed of 17km per hour but most of the time I would say you are travelling around 10km or stopped for a commentary from the guide.
Our photos will tell the story of the places we visited and it did give us an idea of how the city is laid out. All the shops are closed today except the restaurants and coffee shops. We passed a café and picked up a piece of Sacha Torte (well we are in Vienna) and that went down very well with a cup of tea.
This afternoon it rained but we stepped out for a walk around 3pm, we set out for the city park which we had passed in our Segway tour. The park was very pretty and there were lots of people out enjoying it, we then walked towards the canal but it started raining and in no time it had turned cold and windy so we found a coffee shop and waiting until the rain stopped.
On the way back to the apartment I decided to walk up the south tower of the Dom all 343 steps to the top. The spiral staircase seemed never ending and I was surprised to find a souvenir shop at the top selling the obligatory post cards and model cathedrals.
Tonight we went to dinner at Figlmuller. They are famous for their Schnitzel and Potato Salad, and many other dishes. See photos.
We will be moving onto Prague tomorrow morning.
