Cat & Anna's Adventures
After our jungle experience we pretty much just chilled out in Bangkok and met our new group. We went out to a bar and then ended up having a room party with all our old group - as we couldn't bear to be parted! The next day we we're all feeling a tad delicate so just took a boat round the canals and did lots of shopping!
We then left Bangkok (hooray!) on an overnight train to Surat Thani in South Thailand - turned out to be a 17 hour epic journey as there was an accident on the trainline. The disco train however provided us with muchos entertainment. Then we drove straight to Khao Sok national park - OMG. What can i say - it was almost as bad as the jungle - had to stay in the middle of the rainforest!
We had to stay in these freaky little huts on stilits - with NO electricity or hot water. So dark and scary in our huts - even during the day! So much so that Lucy & Jim (Annas law school buddies) ended up sleeping the spare bed in our room so we could all stick together against the evil forces of nature!
Our first night there we returned from drinks and dinner only to fnd the worlds biggest and hariest spider on the bathroom wall! So we rang Marcelle ( our tour leader) who recruited one of the Aussie boys to dispose of it - even the Aussies thought it was huge! Dont think my flip flop will ever recover from killing such a giant spider. Jim also managed to put his foot through one of our floorboards in a moment of hysteria after discovering the spider!
The place was so scarey - there were leeches, snakes and spiders everywhere. And cute little monkeys - who turned out to be evil toast pinching monkeys! We didnt really do anything whilst we were there cos it kept raining and everything flooded! We went river tubing in the rain - basically just sitting in a rubber ring down the river. it was soo cool, except anna cracked her bum on a rock and i ended up being pulled down the fast rapids by accident! I Was too busy relaxing!
Then we drove to Krabi in south thailand which is AMAZING. The beaches are out of this world - tropical white sands and crystal clear water. We took a boat trip round 5 different islands - went to Maya Bay where "the beach" was filmed and to phi phi - which are the 2 most popular islands and 3 other smaller islands. I preferred chicken island - it was so so cool. I could have stayed there forever! Even though it was ace, im never going on another boat ever again - as being sick in front of your whole group on a speedboat is not that much fun!
We've been lucky with the weather since we left Khao Sok - been sunny all day today - so we're a tad pink! Going to spend tommorrow on another island just chilling out and relaxing. Might do some more snorkelling - the snorkelling we did today was amazing. I loved it! After that we have another epic journey down into Malaysia. Cant wait to visit a new country!
Anyways im off for some nachos (in an irish pub opposite our hotel - how unthai!) for tea but thought id abuse the hotels internet before i ate!
Take care,
Lots of love
