We were only in Geneva for a day, in between flights from Amsterdam and to Budapest. Because of the nature of the cheap airlines, you have to work with where they fly and when. We were happy to get a day to see the Alps though.
Â
Geneva is a beautiful city. It is surrounded by the mountains, and all right on a giant lake. We asked the tourist desk at the airport what we could do for the day, and after looking through some brochures, found out about boat rides around the lake. We left our luggage at the storage area that was available for 5 euros a piece, and headed out to catch the ?Lunchtime Cruise?.
Â
The boat left from a pretty park that is right on the water. It reminded me a bit of the Mt. Washington Cruise that goes around Lake Winnipesaukee. It was a sunny, bright day, and we enjoyed sitting out on the front of the boat, soaking up the rays. It was breezy out on the water, so we still needed jackets, but it was gorgeous! The Alps are such a pretty set of mountains. I would love to go back and spend more time exploring the area. We took tons of pictures of the scenery before heading inside to grab some lunch.
Â
We misunderstood the whole ?lunchtime cruise? idea, thinking our food was included. It wasn?t, but we bought some very overpriced sandwiches anyways, and enjoyed dining inside a fancy dining room.
Â
After the cruise we headed back to the airport, and just hung around until it was time for our flight to Budapest. Lots of sitting and waiting was done, and finally we were on our way to see Linda, Laszlo, Lance, and Lee!
