Day for travel and rest today. Left the hotel at 7:30 for our flight to Xi'an. The domestic terminal at Shanghai is the biggest terminal in China, so a bit chaotic! We didn't realise we couldn't take liquids as carry on, so they made Case throw out her perfume - she was pissed! We lucked in to a flight carrying 30 7yr old school kids who all wanted to say hi to the round eyes! After getting swamped by the kids trying to get onto the plane (they push more than the parents!) we found ourselves sitting behind another little girl of about 3. Cute for a start, but having a kid stand on the seat in front of you leaning over your tray table and chewing with her mouth open for half the flight the cuteness soon wore off!
Made it into Xi'an (pronounced She-Anne) and crashed out for a much needed nanna nap! Went for a wander to find a local restaurant - no one spoke English at the first one and no pictures on the menu so moved on. Found a place and picked what we thought was a chicken and a beef dish. Turns out flat noodles can look a lot like chicken, dark mushrooms can look a lot like beef and chillies are invisible in a photo! Another early start tomorrow, so off to bed early.
