Howdy folks,
Here we are in the US of A!! At Jo's Aunty Terri's house in sunny California (though it is raining, typically i think we English have brought the rain with us again, sigh).
Update for the rest of New Zealand as we have been a bit bad at updating recently sorry. After we climbed the glacier we found ourselves on a bus with a crazy bus driver called Lisa, also known as "sweet as lady". she took us on a major bus ride all the way down to Queenstown, the party town of New Zealand. However after our tiring day before we weren't up for the teapot cocktails and were lame and went to bed. Up early the next day we headed out to Milford Sound in the rain. However we had the best of both worlds as the rain made lots of pretty waterfalls that weren't usually there, though they were hard to see through the rain streaked windows. But once we were half way round on the boat the sun came out to play and dried up all the rain, so we could see the sky again!! and the top of the mountains, which was why were were there really. very pretty but rather wet day and lots and lots of coach driving. so again we didn't go out. o dear we must be getting old.
The next stop was Dunedin, which was meant to be the Edinburgh of New Zealand, however the only scottlish thing we found was a kilt shop! We did find a yummy burger place, Velvet Burgers which are supposed to rival the Ferg Burger.
Will left us the next morning to meet his family early for a weekend in Hamner Springs, while Risha, Ted and Jo stayed in Dunedin another night. Risha amused herself by visiting the local Cadburys factory with lots of free chocolate. Ted and Jo went on an animal adventure where we saw yellow eyed penguins, sealions (very close, very big!!) seals, baby seals and unexpectedly a killer whale!! very exciting and lots of close up animal action.
On the way to Christchurch we stayed the night at Lake Takapo which was very quiet, in the middle of nowhere but pretty walks and scenery on the way through. We also stopped at the Moeraki Boulders which are huge globe rocks settled on the beach made out of crazy rock formations.
When we got to Christchurch we checked in at our hostel, where we had our first thing stolen during our trip. Luckily it was only our food shopping and there wasn't much left in there. While we were sleeping that night, one of our room mates came in and woke everyone up with his drunken state. The next day we went off to Akaroa where Risha finally got to go Jetboating (for only $60) and we then went for a walk through a little mazy forest. The next day we had a chill before returning to christchurch where we were picked up by Will's Aunt.
*will here for a paragraph* I had a great time with the family in Lincon which is near christchurch. We went away for the weekend to hamner springs and kaikoura and had a great time jet boating, horse riding, and me loosing very badly at crazy golf! We stayed in the middle of the mountains in a really nice lodge which was a big difference to the hostels that I have got used to!! We got back to Lincon on the sunday and were joined by Jo, ted and Risha again on monday!!
Being in a house was such a novelty!! Home cooked food, real towels and comfy beds was so nice!! We had a day in christchurch where we went up the gondola to see the city from the best possible place and the spent the afternoon at the museum and the botanical gardens. We also found an english shop which will had been to with his family so we all treated ourselves to some sweets and chocolate that we had been craving for a long time!! We also had a day shopping and then cooked a mexican and some really nice cake for wills family!
Had a great time in NZ and it has gone soooo quickly, we were up this morning at 4 30 and have spent the day flying and arrived in LA at the same time on the same day as we left NZ!!!.....VERY CONFUSING!!
Hope everyone is ok at home!!
Speak soon :)xxx
