So, sad to be minus the McCarthy I get started reluctantly on a plan for the rest of my time in Oz, there is so much to see that I want to fit in as much as possible! Sadly the swimming pool was calling the first day and I just relaxed whilst thinking about it for the first day, oops!! That evening though I made a plan, back down to Brisbane on the bus stopping for Airlee Beach to try again at sailing, Fraser Island for some 4x4 action, then through the centre, up to Darwin back down to Brisbane, 5 days surfing between Byron Bay and Sydney and then 5 days in and around Sydney with Linds.......I feel tired already, but I'm glad to have a plan!
The next day I go out on my first proper sail boat, which was great, the staff were ridiculously energetic and put all of their effort into making sure you had a day to remember, and it worked! Out we went to green Island for diving, snorkelling and even some relaxing time on the island. The weather was spot on and we even got a glass of champagne for the ride home, The sails went up and I did try to learn a bit about sailing, I think I probably need more than 1 day! I went diving in just a bikini which was an interesting experience and met some great people -who I then met later that night to try out more pubs and clubs of Cairns.
Next it was off to Cape Tribulation for the day, for some rainforest treking and action packed fun as advertised! Mossomon Gorge was a lovely little clear swimming hole where I didn't need to be told twice to get in for a swim and the scenic viewpoints along the way were great for photo's. Cape Tribulation beach itself I wasn't that impressed with, probably because by now I have been spoilt with beaches but the cruise along the Daintree made up for it. The guide got a nasty suprise when he pulled up alongside a rare species of frog for us to look at and it got taken by a snake that almost made it's way onto our boat, we saw crocs just cruising in the wild and loads of birds.
After all of that excitment, I treat myself to another day chilling by the pool before embarking on the bus to Airlee beach early the next morning!
