So, I am finally here in Argentina! I left Christy's house yesterday morning at 9:00am and went to the airport with Whitney. Our flight to Atlanta was uneventful, but ran late. We already had a very tight connection in Atlanta and this make it even worse. We literally had to sprint to our next flight and as we were running, we heart them say 'This is the last boarding call.' We just made it! Then, of course, when we got into Buenos Aires our luggage didn't come! Luckily I have the basics. After that, Whitney and I went our separate ways and I waited with my driver for Markus who was supposed to be on my flight. Of course he did't make it, so the driver, Carlos, turned to me and asked 'Where are we going?' I turned to him and said, 'I thought you were supposed to know that!' Then, for the next hour we tried calling everyone but no one answered, so finally I called Whitney's host family to see if I could go there and they said yes, but right after that, Carlos got a cal about where I was supposed to be staying. The car ride was good, though. Carlos was very nice and helpful and gave me his card if I needed anything, day or night. Right now I am in my hostel incredibly confused, disappointed in my organiation for being unorganized, without any luggage, and no idea what I'm going to do with myself for the next 24 hours! Wow, what did I get myself into! It's alright, though. I'm not scared or nervous, just perplexed. I'm so happy to be here, though!
15 minutes later...
So, things cleared up slightly. Still confused, but less so. So, the cute little receptionist Flor called CII for me because I told her I thought I was staying more than one night, but she only had me here for one. She talked to Fernando, the head honcho and then she gave the phone to me. He was super nice (and sounded kinda sexy!) and said I spoke Spanish realy well. Apparently there is a guy named Matt in the hostel right now sleeping but at 2:30 some former CII person from the US is coming to talke to us. What I think is so funny is how would I have known any of this if I didn't just happen to call? Luckily he was super sweet on the phone so I can't be mad, and if he's half as attractive as he sounds, that won't be bad either. Let's just say I'm getting a crash course n the Argentinean way of life. One things though is that the three Argentineans I have talked to have been incredibly kind, generous, and ipressed with my (not-up-to-snuff) Spanish. Por lo menos, only because I am trying. And man, am I every going to try hard! This is my opportunity! I love the Argentinean accent, though, and really want it for myself!
