Today was the most amazing days fishing. Started off with a Mahi Mahi of over a metre that flew through the air when hooked. Amanda followed soon after. At this stage we had been trolling for about 20 minutes and had two nice fish in the esky. Heading straight out towards the 90 metre mark one of our skirts took off at a rate of knots. A couple of seconds later a marlin took off out of the water with my lure in its mouth. With Amanda videoing (see video section...

Had a snorkel at Turquoise Bay where you drift from one end of the beach floating over coral and a range of fish, turtles etc. and finish at the other end. Amanda experimented with her new GoPro and got some brilliant video and photos. Peter and Eleni arrived late today and set up camp with their amazing new rig. Tea was fresh fish, just for something different.

Our darling daughter Amanda flew into Exmouth today. So great to see her again. The day was spent loosening the purse strings. Bought a freezer so that we don't need to buy ice, a saving of at least $20 a day for the month we are here. Hanno's done the Maths and reckons we are far better off even if we finish up leaving it here. Then we spent a couple of hours in Tackle World. Today was an experimental day in the boat. Helby Bank is the one mark we have from our Fishfinder book so after making our way out through the beacons to the outside of the Ningaloo Reef we turned to the north and set about trolling the 5 or 6km to Helby. 45 minutes of trolling the famous purple lure and a green skirt proved unsuccessful so we tried "bottom bouncing" over a couple of fishy looking lumps, next to Helby Bank. Short drive of 150km through ant hill country to get from Coral Bay to our resting place for the next month, the Lighthouse Caravan Park at Exmouth. Our day started well with pancakes at the local cafe. Carol embarrassed us with a chocolate and ice cream pancake for breakie.
