Experienced how the other half lives yesterday when we spent the day at the Port Lincoln Cup. It is amazing how many people can attend a race meeting on a week day.
Day started well with the first use of our new Seniors Cards. $20 entrance fee reduced to $10. These cards could be a winner. Cost $70 for the year but apparently will get us all kinds of discounts. Shouldn't take long to recoup the outlay at this rate.
Hanno's brother Michael provided the first highlight of the day. His tip came in and 3 of us backed it in. One bet one winner.
The girls pooled a few dollars and were on fire early collecting on the first few races. Suffice to say their "beginners luck" soon ran out but at no stage did they let a few losses slow any of the fun and games.
Mick and I continued to back the odd winner but Hanno was on the real winner when he managed to infiltrate one of the hospitality tents. After not sighting him for a few races a text message invited us to a marquee where the beer was free and flowing freely. Needless to say the punting took a back seat while we settled down to enjoying a few drinks with Vicki and Greg Lawless and a few others from the Henley Footy Club.
After a free bus ride back to the Tasman the girls managed to talk a sober driver from Pt Augusta into ferrying us back home to Amanda and Tim's place where we had tea and caught up with Nicky (Mick's cousin) and Roma.
Great day had by all.
