Memory Cove in the Port Lincoln National Park must be one of the best kept secrets in SA. A pristine beach surrounded by natural scrub, it is a must see if you visit Lincoln. We took longer than normal to do the 40 or 50 kilometers from Lincoln cos the passenger I had felt a little uneasy about the vehicle's capabilities. As it turned out it was a relatively uneventful 2 hour trip apart from a few low hanging branches that didn't accommodate our required 3.5m clearance. Anyway, we made it and even the satellite dish on the roof survived the experience. Tim, Amanda and friends did the the same trip apart from a few detours to spectacular scenic lookouts and still took less than half the time we took to get here. Still it was all worth it as I'm sure you can see from the photos. The boys (Tim, Josh and Nick) tried their hand at fishing from the rocks but had more success when they decided to use their fishing platform as a diving board.
The late arvo and evening was spent enjoying the view, spotting a sea eagle, dolphins and even a sea lion lazing on the beach in front of our camp. Drinks and dinner on the dunes topped off a brilliant day. Really felt retired when the young ones headed home at about 7:00pm and left Carol and I sipping red wine and taking in the evening glow on the 2 yachts anchored in the bay.
