Trekking adventure
holy crap, have just arrived back in civilisation from my 4 day trekking adventure into the jungles of north thailand... our first day would have to have been the hardest, it was raining and the .5m width track was so slippery, i ended up on my ass for most of the way... we arrived in the first village at about 5pm.. the village is known as the Karen tribe, and tour guide assistant sumdee, aka ADD or monkey boy, was from this village.. he even had a pet monkey called lily very cute.. the food cooked is awesome the sleeping area not so great.. i found it very difficult to sleep that night.. Our 2nd day of trekking was much longer, referred to as the pamela anderson trek, due to its many hills, but not slippery so manageable.. we arrived in an elephant camp for lunch 4 hours later... the elephants were awesome.. the guys in our group were very excited by the size of the elephants dong!!.. which i must say would have been close to a metre of length.. are you jealous boys?? Simon and i jumped on a very tempremental and hungry elephant and would constantly lean over the edge of cliffs to reach for branches, having sinmone and i facing our dea5ths.. one time we turned to see the elephants handler was holding onto his tail.. of which im really sure would have helped if he had decided to go down the cliff!!! we rode the elephants into another karen tribe village.. this tribe is much larger than the first even having western or normal toilets.. such a bliss!! samart and ADD introduced us to moonshine, a thai rice version of Grappa!! We are also learning to cook some pretty amazing food, like spring rolls and pad thai and other thai creations.. when we arrive in the villages, the village people often bombard us with jewellery for us to buy, i think i have managed to buy a piece from every village!! The next morning we visited the village school, and handed out lollies and pencils and paper for them to use.. it was soo cute to see them lining up for the gifts, and going to the back of the line to get more.. so gorgeous!! we left this village and began a very long day of trekking.. by now i was used to the weight of backpack.. not that this makes it much easier. if i havent toned my ass from this trekking i swear i will forever sit on my ass!! we finished our last day of trekking in a village called the lahu tribe.. the kids in the villages are so cute, some of them we had seen in the school in the previous village.. they walk miles just to get an education, it ,makes you appreciate the simplicity and ease of which we have access to in australia.. as tonight was our last night we all hit the moonshine hard, and began our own karake session... today we arise with a sleep in and are welcomed by pancakes for breakfast.. we built our bamboo rafts and rafted all the way back down until we reached a village accesssable by car, and driving back to chiang mai.. i am now showered and i swear i have never smelt or felkt so clean in my life.. i think many of my clothes on the trek plus my shoes will be left behind, as i dont think ausrtalias quarantine will allow them to re enter the country.. what a shame looks like i need to buy more clothes!! lol
