Day 35- Munich to Lauterbrunnen
We covered 4 countries today! Starting in Germany, we passed through and exited Austria and had our first rest stop in the small country of Liechtenstein. The capital, Vaduz, is where we stopped, and we had an amazing early lunch, the best part of the meal being our scrumptious ice cream desserts. Back on the coach, we then entered Switzerland, GORGEOUS scenery abound! We stopped in Lucerne to do some shopping and enjoy Swiss watches, knives, and chocolate...yum. We also saw my favorite sculpture thus far; a dying lion that has been stabbed in the back and is lying on the French crest, with the symbol of the Swiss guard leaning against a wall just behind the lion. It is supposed to be in memorial of the 700 Swiss mercenaries that died protecting the empty house of Louis XIV and Marie Antionette while the royalty tried to flee from the French people during the revolution. The realism of the lion is really neat, and the area around it is very peaceful and pretty. After Lucerne, we made our way to our campground, in a beautiful green valley with huge mountains and waterfalls surrounding us. It is the most scenic place on this tour, easily. We have two nights in this haven, and free time gave us the opportunity to shop, explore and enjoy the area. Wondrous!
