Day 32-Vienna to Hopfgarten
Today we left one of my favorite cities in Europe to further explore Austria. The countryside is stunningly beautiful, don't think I could ever get sick of it! On our way to Hopfgarten, we stopped at the Swarovski Crystal world museum, absolutely amazing! There was a 42m of crystal-covered wall, a 300,000 "carat" (if crystals were measured like diamonds) crystal, and many, many other wonders to be seen. And the things you could buy! Crazy. We arrived in the little village of Hopfgarten in the afternon and had relaxing free time until an excellent Contiki-rep cooked dinner, and then later, time to check out the local pub and socialize.
Day 33- Hopfgarten
Today was many days rolled into one, it seemed! We woke to rain and cloudy weather, and feared we may not be able to go biking and paragliding...luckily, the weather didn't get severe enough to cancel either. We started the morning with our bike ride through town, then into and up into the hilly countryside. The 25km ride was made enjoyable by an easy but steady climb, a wonderful lunch looking out into the valley, , the scenery, and the people who hadn't been on a bike for quite some time! Arriving back home in the afternoon, we then readied for paragliding1 We were taken up a ski slope by gondola, met our tandem pilots, then geared up to run down the slope! We only really had to run enough for the said to catch the wind, then it was an enjoyable float down, with the occasional flip and twist to make it exciting. It was amazing how secure I felt, even during our tricks; much safer than a rollercoaster ever has made me feel! We finished up our paragliding, then went back down to the village to eat another tasty meal and have a relaxing evening, well deserved!
