Well…Here it is finally, the start of mine and Rich's blog. Not to sure what to put so that it won't be boring for the rest of you, but here goes.On the 25th November Rich and I left crappy weathered England for Singapore. The plane journey was good, and it wasn't too turbulent either. I would recommend Qantas to anybody. When we got to Singapore it was sooooo hot and sticky, and this was about 7.30 in the evening! Our hotel was interesting to say the least. (It was awful) the room was cleanish (I hoped), we slept in our sleeping bags just in case though, the room smelt of damp, the shower was broken - it fell off the wall the first day we went to use it (it was actually quite funny, water went everywhere) oh, and we had a big furry mould patch on the ceiling above the bed. As for Singapore itself, I think it's quite a weird country, we were glad we went and recommend it to anyone who wants to do lots of shopping - there were shopping malls everywhere!!!! They were at least every 100 metres away from each other, there were thousands. Our hotel was in Chinatown, and near the main Chinatown market which had lots of good bargains. Just down the road was this cool temple that had people and animals sculpted into the outside walls and they where all coloured in pastel colours. In Singapore we saw the giant Merlion by the dock, a giant UFO - their high court (it looked like a scene from Men In Black), Raffles hotel (which wasn't that impressive compared to a building down the road) and lots of really tall buildings. One day we went to Sentosa, which is the Island right off the coast of Singapore. They have a cable car that runs from Singapore to Sentosa and back - it went up really really high, it was scary luckily it didn't stop at any point. Sentosa was fun; it has lots of things to do. It's like a giant adventure island. We went to Underwater World and saw lots of cool fish, I especially liked the one called 'Sea Angel' it was tiny and see-through so you could see its insides which glowed bright orange. We also saw two sharks mating, to me it looked like one of them was trying to eat the other one as the bite and hold onto its side. We then went to a 3D Cinemax ride, that actually wasn't 3D as you didn't need to wear you 3D glasses that they gave you - it was weird (I think the company who made it just conned the people on Sentosa). We also went up the Carlsberg tower, which spins round at the top so you get a 360º view. Then on the last night of Singapore we went to the Night Safari at the Singapore zoo which was awesome, but very creepy at the same time. We went on a night tram, on this we saw all of the big animals like the lions, buffalo, elephants etc. After the tram we went on a night trail where we saw leopards, smaller animals and a very noisy tiger. Rich made me walk through the bat enclosure, it was horrid they were flying around and you couldn't really see them as it was dark. However they looked quite cute hanging upside down on a tree branch.Oh, some things I did leave out are that the Changi airport (Singapore airport) is massive and you will get lost if you go, and also that it rained every day we where there, which is one of the reasons we didn't go in Raffles hotel aswell as the fact that we probably weren't dressed appropriately either.
