Today was yet another long yet amazing day! We explored the Vatican Museums, which was amazing! We arrived at 9AM thinking that was our meeting time like yesterday, but turns out we didn't have to be there until 9:45, so we took that extra time this morning to mail out all of our postcards (be on the lookout!) We travelled through all the rooms with the assistance of a tour guide (I don't think I would ever do an excursion without a tour guide now that we've had so many. Without it you really are just aimlessly wandering and don't know anything about what you're looking at). The museum ends with the Sistine Chapel, which was just absolutely gorgeous! I will admit though, I expected it to be it's own freestanding building and much larger and rounder than it really was for some reason. It was just a well-painted and decorated rectangular room, more or less. Unfortuntely I couldn't take pictures though, you aren't allowed. I have many from the rest of the museum, though!
After our tour we had lunch then headed to school to attend our classes. We have an exam tomorrow in Daily Life In Ancient Rome, so I've been studying for that. He cancelled class today though to take us on one last excursion before our exam to see the inside of the Pantheon and Piaza Navona, which are both places we've been learning about in class. After being dismissed, we stopped for gelato at our new favorite gelato place on that side of town. I wasn't feeling all that great though so all I had was some water - which isn't free here, by the way! Ever! I've spent more money on water than I have on travel! Okay, that's probably a mild exageration, but still you don't realize how much you take free water for granted until you have to pay for it. Same with public bathrooms, but that's another story for another day.
We've been spending our evening at home both studying for our exam tomorrow and packing for this weekend's trip: Paris! I'm so excited I can not wait. Be expecting a ton of stories and pictures when I arrive back in Rome on Sunday!
Time for me to get back to studying then head to bed - big day tomorrow! Buonnanote!
