Fiji updateArrived 6th March at 5.15AM! From fri 7th March we did a 4 day 3 night tour of 2 of the Fiji Islands. We stayed on the Main Fiji island in Nadi at Nomads skylodge for 1 night before beginning our tour. We went on a big yellow boat that took about 2 hrs to our first island Kuata. The boat is like a taxi which stops off at several islands on the way up to north Yasawa islands. We saw Bounty island on the way the one from celebrity love island….its so tiny! When we arrived at Kuata the boat stops in the middle of the sea then little boats from the island come and get you, then you walk from the sea to the beach. All the Fijian people of the island sing to you and you have to shout "Bula!" really loud or we don't get any dinner. Bula means hello they say it all the time. Before we eat we hear them blowing a shell horn and everyone is so hungry we all come rushing to the dinning room. Normally we ate rice, potato, fish based dishes. You're on an island in the middle of no where so you can't go to the shop to buy food so must eat what they give you and when they give it to you. Island was very pretty with lots of hammocks which we loved chilling in. So beautiful just laying there looking at such a lush scenic view, lovely bath warm blue sea and pretty islands, clear blue skies! It was so hot after America, we really caught up with a tan.Or hut that we stayed in was just a bed and a table and and ensuite with a shower….a pipe and a hole in the floor for the plug hole which flooded the toilet room next to it! Oh well its all part of the Fiji experience. Our hut was on the beach and you could hear the sea from it. We had a massive cockroach, size of my palm (length not width but it was quite wide) in our room in Nadi so staying in a hut was a bit freaky….we had 2 and a massive spider. On the 1st day in Kuata we just chilled and walked about and fed a turtle. On the 2nd day we got the boat taxi to Korovou. This island was more of a resort we had a lodge to stay in and a pool and we heard drums when food was ready at this island. We came across a concept called "Fiji time" they say dinner will be 7-8.30 and we expected it to be at that time like in hotels etc but its ready sometimes earlier or later or just whenever. It was the same when it came to activities….11am coconut breaking…..try 11.40 "Fiji time!" no point in wearing a watch so I didn't!Here we just chilled again and talked all day in the pool to lots of other travelers as Fiji is 1 of those places everyone goes through on their way to America (LA typically) or on their way to NZ/OZ. In the eve we had Fiji beer….not much choice. The Fijians drink Cava a muddy looking/tasting water that numbs your tongue and whole face…bit odd and its meant to chill you out.In the day the locals just sit around drinking it and singing….nice life.In the eve the whole islands electricity goes out around 10-11 so you are in pitch black totally, no fans in the room work either. The view of the stars is amazing though from there, we have never seen so many totally couldn't believe it!In the day you can do activities like snorkeling or visit a village. On our 3 rd day we didn't do much again….its a hard life(!) On the 4th day we left the island at about 2pm and had a 4hr boat trip back to the main island where we stayed where we stayed the first night then we flew to New Zealand the next morning a bit late at 9.30am. The whole time we were in Fiji we spent Between 2 of us $240 FJ Dollars which is 84 british pounds!!!! That's not including the tour which included all our food. That's Fiji! Veneke for reading!BULA!
