Hiya, finally able to update a few of our blog entries!
Bangkok is very much a city, always busy, no matter how late you stay up or how early you are awake- there is always lots going on and loads of people around- I swear the local people don't sleep!
We have been round all of the main sights of Bangkok- The Grand Palace, Wat Po (the leaning Budda) and the floating market. The Grand Palace and Wat Po were the usual fun temple days for us- walking around in rented clothing- anything we bought with us to cover up was never good enough, so we have many photos of us looking wonderfully stylish in various skirts, shirts, shrugs and jogging bottoms, which always clashed!
We visited the floating market on the same day as going to the River Kwai and the Tiger Temple. The floating market was good fun, great to look at and there was lots to buy. Unfortunately I decided it would be a good idea to purchase a mixed fruit platter to try all of the fruits that I hadn't had a chance to sample yet- big mistake!! The 1st couple of bits were ok, the star fruit was a little less sweet than I remebered, and then I had a bit of pineapple- while chewing on it I had a look at the piece still in my hand to see 2 maggots wriggling around in it! Ewww! I marched straight back over to the woman I brought it from who flatly refused to give me my money back, pretending she didn't understand me. So I drew a picture of a maggot and she soon changed from not understanding to flatly refusing to give my money back. I must admit I was very tempted to throw the rest of her stall in the river, but she was holding a rather large knife (for cutting the fruit) so I decided it was probably best not to attack her fruit stall! In the end I had to walk off, feeling v sick and soooo annoyed that I had been well and truly mugged of my money! After that small blip though the rest of the day got much better! We went to the River Kwai and walked over the bridge, taking in the view down the river. Then it was time to drive to our highlight of the day- the Tiger Temple! Here we got to stand with, sit and stroke a number of fully grown tigers! It was such an amazing experience that we didn't feel scared at all and the thought that we could have been in danger didn't cross our minds- they were like big p**** cats! It was one of the best things we have done so far and finished off the day perfectly!
The rest of the time we have been in Bangkok has been spent looking round stalls and also booking our future trips, we keep coming back to Bangkok inbetween stops, but today is definitley our last day here. Can't wait to get down to the beaches!! x
