Well I have just got back to Chiang Mai from a 3 day trek to hilltop villiages around Pai. Doing to trek was only 3 people, myself, a Russian (Alex) and (Michele) my Italian friend. Instead of making jokes of the Englishman, Irishman and scotsman...it was Englishman, Italian and the Russian! After the first day trekking in 30+ degrees heat, I was seriously doubting why anyone would want to trek and in hindsight, I think I should have started of with the one day or even 2 day trekking first...but no, I went straight in for the 3 days and 2 nights - I was kicking myself. That was until we finally made it to the first hilltop tribe, which consisted of 2 houses and only 8 residents. They were so friendly and welcoming and the 2 young girls had such an amazing smile, they kept on running around and laughing at us, especially when we tried to speak their local dialect. We tried some of the locally farmed food, one being this really really sour sweet, which literally made your mouth cave in. We then trekked on to another small villiage (40 people) where we spent our first night. During the second days trek we visited a number of waterfalls, which were amazing and did elephant trekking. In the final village I spent some time with the locals playing football and teaching them a few tricks!!! The final day was quite relaxing actually, only about 2 hours of trekking then some bamboo rafting, well it was more like Bamboo "Floating". I have also taken a Thai cookery course here in Chiang Mai were I learned to cook a mean Thai Green Curry, Chicken with Cashew, Pad Thai, Spring Rolls and a few other dishes. I'm off on the 2 day boat trip to Laos (Luang Pabang) the day after next. So I'll just spend the rest of my time in Chiang Mai, chilling and visiting Temples :)
