This is what is left of a dwelling reconstructed by the archaeologist. Royce indicated that the small door is probably a little taller than the original would have been. The doors between rooms would also have been small. The buildings were used for sleeping and protection: most of their time would have been spent outside. In case if attack (not likely because of their location on top ifthe mesa), they could crawl in and back through the rooms, surprising an intruder when he put his head through one of the doors/openings. The slit to the right would have allowed he occupants to look out without having an opening big enough for an enemy to reach in. The poles would have supported the upper floors.
