We arrived in New Delhi at 11am. Driving into the city itself was an experience; the crazy driving, the stares and the monkeys camels pigs horse cows and goats roaming the streets. The city is full of poverty and there are a lot of beggars. After a rest in the Sundar Hotel as temperatures hit around 40 degrees outside we ventured out to see the city. We ended up tangled within the Indian slums where there were all sorts of animals and hundreds of people crowding the walkways. Tens of children, and a goat and chicken appeared to be following us for awhile. Once we found our way out of this we found a tourist office where we booked a three week excursion visiting many parts of India. The guy at the tourist office offered to take us back to our hotel and we stopped off at a bar for some dinner which led to a 'Heineken tower' and cocktails! After going back to the hotel room I found it pretty hard to sleep - the constant car horns, noisy air con and extreme heat. As well as it being my first night in this unknown city, which if I am going to be honest, has scared the s*** out of me!
