Had a fantastic day in Magnetic Island yesterday. Even went swimming although water was full of sand trees Nd other assorted flotsam from the rain storms. Beautiful place. Took the car and did the Fort walk. Took us 2 1/2 hours instead of the sugested 1. It was 4 km almost vertical. Great lookout. Got an early start for Atherton. Ended up stuck in traffic for 1 hour as 2 truck hit head on on a bridge. Finally here. Beautiful scenery all green and lush. Very war...

In Townsville, after driving through torrential rain for days we decided to take a dig out to the coast where we hear thefe was sun. Day 1 we did 4 loads laundry and hung on the line, dry in 2 hours. Day 2 we drove up to Paluma in the rain forest. Lovely walk out to a lookout where we ould see the islands Orpheus and Pearl. Yesterday we did down town and had lunch on the fabulous foreshore. In our haste to leave Burketown, we were up at 7.00am and on the road at 9.00am. Unthinkable for us. Waved it good bye. Never want to go back there again, unlike other places we have wanted to return to. 800km round trip absolute waste of time and money.
