Im not very good at keeping this updated am I!!!! Back in Cape Town, definitely feel like home and now realising i only have 6 weeks or so left before i have to get my ass back home to work - aaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I stayed 2 nights at St Bedes terrace when i arrived and was forced to party with a group of girls from J'burg I was sharing with before moving on to the Ashantio lodge in Greenpoint for some peace and quiet for a few days - the new ashanti is amazing, ultra mordern fantastic place with a lush pool so i chilled for a few days with my new mate Rachel from down under. She has the oddest volunteer experience i have ever heard - she basically came here for 4 weeks over xmas to foster a child from an orphanage she has worked in before .... i say odd because the ease in which it was done has dumbfounded me - she rocks up and says she wants to volunteer they say the orphange is closed over xmas but here you go please can you take this little girl for a few weeks .... bring here back on x date .... thats it .... wow .... well anyway she thouraly enjoyed it and much to her fear managed to return the little girl in one piece .... no support, no security checks nothing .... it realy is a different world here. Im waiting for a few days until my creche opens and will be going to suprise them and work out which days I can work, its harder now im on my own and not wit the organisation as I have to work out transport into the township and its not v safe so i may only be able to go for a few hours each day but its better than nothing (and cheaper as i cant afford to pay the volunteer fees again!!) ..... for this last week i managed to wangle rental on a top notch apartmenet - cant quite believe my luck but im staying in a new block overlooking table mountain with a rooftop pool so dont feel too sorry for me sweltering here in the heat whilst you all battle the snow hee heee .... making the most of it before its back to reality next week. As for anything else i've been up to well its mostly just been chilling with friends and shedrack. floating in the pool on my lilo (the best 30 rand i have ever spent) and waiting for the hard work to begin again!!! ooooo and my highlight of last week was when me and rachel managed to blag our way into the ladysmith black memboza concert on the waterfront in the harbour - we are obviously looking like crusty travellers cos the tickets were v expensie but they took pity on us sat outside looking at them pleadingly and they gave us complimentary tickets wooohooooo - that was an amazing experience :) thanks rachel for being brave and asking the security!!!
