New York, New York
June 27th
Well we are here in muggy New York and in true Brit fashion we have brought the weather with us. It has been raining and the forecast is for storms! The flight was fine - Jon fluttered his eyelashes at the stewardess and we got extra leg room and 7 hours later (plus an hour and a half of fingerprinting, eye scanning and 3 and a half hours of driving and getting lost on Subways), we finally got to our hotel.
We checked in and went for a wander. Our bags are already breaking our backs - we are so feeble! We went to Times Square, took some touristy snaps and had a healthy New York portion of Caesar salad and passed out at 10pm.

After a restless nights sleep (at a discounted price as again Jon fluttered his eyelashes at the nice Chinese man), we got up at 8.30 and had breakfast in a fattening American diner. Jon had 1000 pancakes 'with haaam' as the waitress pronounced it, while I had eggs 'sunny side' one way or the other.
We then headed to the heliport where Jon had his 10 minutes of sightseeing by air. 'Twas fun' he said of the experience. We then got on the Subway and got confused. The Subway is a complex map of lines numbered and lettered in order to confuse tourists.
We somehow made it to Ground Zero and then onto South Street Seaport where it smelt of fish - not much else to say about it. We then onto Brooklyn Bridge, where a fat American started to chat up Jon.
Union Square Park was next on the list (which was my favourite place so far). It was a long walk so we stopped off for an American sized can of lemonade - big enough to hold in both hands. We sat in Union Park for a while making fun of people until we got bored and then headed to the Flatiron Building and Madison Park, and then braved the Subway again to 5th Avenue and headed onto Central Park where we were serenaded by an Italian guy playing an interesting rendition of Guns N Roses 'Knock knock knocking on Heavens Dwararaw' as he pronounced it. We were also approached by a toothless spitting poet - needless to say we suddenly felt the need to leave. Our little legs were getting tired and Jon's ever expanding stomach was rumbling so we headed to Applejacks Diner for a meal and then back to Times Square to collect our bags and get to the Greyhound Station for the 10.45pm bus to Toronto. An 11 hour overnight journey on the comfortable, stylish, luxurious Greyhound America lies ahead...Will tell you about it later
Chapter Two
June 29th
I should point out that I was being sarcastic about the Greyhound at this point. They are designed to inflict psychological pain on people, as the mobile 'restrooms' are not ventilated and many of the generous Americans on ours used it at regular intervals to relieve themselves of their supersized McDonalds breakfasts.
Despite that, we made it to the Canadian border at 5am where we got off the bus to have our passports stamped. Then we had the pleasure of reboarding the bus for the remaining 3 hour journey to Toronto.
