The world is my school and today I learned some facts about the longest escalator in the world here in Hong Kong.
Today I woke up and forgot that I was in Hong Kong until my dad said "welcome to Hong Kong." After he said that, I went to the kitchen and noticed that we do not have any food. I was starving!!!!! We went out to look for a place to eat that was international, but did not find one. We did find a grocery store though. We got food for breakfast and went back to the apartment. We had a GREAT breakfast (I helped make some of it.)
We went to a big escalator that ran though the city. The only thing was it was going the wrong way for us. Here is a little about the escalator. The Central-Mid-levels escalators in Hong Kong is the longest outdoor covered escalator in the world, according to Guinness World Records. The entire system covers over 800 metres (2,600 ft) in distance and elevates over 135 metres (443 ft) from bottom to top. It was constructed in 1993, and it was officially opened to the public on 15 October 1993. In the whole escalator there are twenty mini escalators and three moving side-walks. It was opened to help people get from their homes to work then back. From the Western District, to Central, and then back to the Western District. Now people who work in Central can get there in 20 minutes! There is an entrance and exit on each road so you do not have to go all the way to get on or off. The escalator daily runs downhill from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and uphill from 10:30 am to midnight. Next time when we go down this way we should do it before 10:00 am.
We went to the IFC mall and sadly only ate lunch/dinner, did not go shopping. : ( I stayed up and watched my dad leave sadly again. I MISS YOU PAPA!!!! (I call my dad Papa.) That was my day. What did you do?
Thank you and please comment.

Gran Gautney Hi Captain, Do tell us more about the food in these various locations. What it is; where you buy it; the particular specialities and why!! You girls are becoming quite the food and cook ex- perts so share it with us. Loved the escalator idea! Do the people using it think it works well? Thanks for teaching me and evoking more questions...that's how I learn! Love, Gran
