July 4th US Independence Day is a big deal down here, and we were ready for a big party, we spent the day, just sitting around the KOA and relaxing a bit while the kids played at the pool, we interacted with our neighbours, Dan and Lori from Vegas and got some directions to our next KOA at Circus Circus in Las Vegas. We exchanged phone numbers and personal info because they want to try and connect in Vegas and they also had plans to come to British Columbia soon.
Nick on the other side of our sites was a little more reserved, originally from New York he now lived in Reno and was camping here with his mother and daughter, asie from that he really didn't share too much more, we offered for them to come to the fireworks at Lake Tahoe but he didn't want to.
We went into town and did some shopping at the K Mart and came back to the site to pack up and prep for morning departure.
Jeff had arranged a shuttle van to pick us up and take us to South Lake Tahoe and back again after the fireworks. We had some dinner and staked out our spots for the show which began 4 hours after we got there. But we certainly got a choice location for the view.
Lake Tahoe has one of the best fireworks displays in the world, ranked number 9 over all, and they didn't disappoint, with over $500,000 worth of fireworks blown up in 30 minutes we were certainly impressed.
After the show, Joe (the driver) picked us up and returned us to the KOA, right to bed at 11 p.m. for the long haul through the desert.
