Leeds:
We fulfilled the purpose of our visit to Leeds, going to the factory where the camper is being fitted out. All we saw was a shell of a van with insulation, wiring and a floor in. Once the wiring is finished the rest of the interior will go in pretty quickly as all the cabinets are already made and the upholstery is complete.
Then came the first of the problems. Scot had made all the inquiries about insurance months ago when we were about to order. There seemed to be no impediments to our obtaining insurance. But rules seem to have changed in the intervening period...
So Russ started to ring around for quotes. One after the other told us that unless we had lived in Britain for three years and had a UK driving license, they couldn't help us. After the ninth knock-back, we tried Down Under Insurance. Finally we had a company that would cover us, the only provisos being that we don't go to Albania. Since this wasn't a place high on our list, that wasn't an issue! Finally problem solved.
Our second problem was not related to the camper, but to the Australian Army! Son David was to undertake his final training module before (hopefully) graduating as an officer at the end of August. So our return tickets were to get us home for the big day. But the Army decided to change the dates of the course, and so now we have to change our tickets. Not so easy from here, especially as the weekend was upon us and were heading to Istanbul for a week!
