Back in Spain
Ray had kindly allowed us to keep the internet dongle we had for Morocco a little longer and so we headed to his little village to get it back to him. Turning off the coast road from Algeceris where we had landed, we headed into the hills behind Malaga.
He met us on the road into Alhaurin el Grande and led us up the mountain. The road was, you guessed it, narrow, pot-holed and windy. We would never have found our way. On the way a flash Bentley pulled out of a very grand house. Ray told us it was Sean Connery's house and that a few doors down is Piers Brosnan. Very select company! Ray's place is at the end of the road, on a steep but most attractive piece of ground with a lovely view over the hills. A superb, peaceful spot.
It was good to catch up with him and with Debbie, his wife whom we had met briefly before we all departed on the trip. In addition we had the pleasure of meeting all ten dogs and 6 tortoises that share the property with them. We all went out for a meal and then we camped on the only level patch of ground text to the house.
Next morning Ray led us out, down an even more precarious road than we had experienced on the way and through the narrow streets of Alhaurin el Grande so we could get straight out and onto the most direct road north.
Now for the dash across Spain.
