We left Rocky Cape surrounded by thick smoke only to find just a few kms down the road, beautiful clear sunshine. Although not as bad as this place, we have since come across a few smoky areas. We've had many concerned calls from people on the mainland, checking on us as the bush fires seem to be making big news over there. With Christmas and New Year Celebrations behind us we made our way down to Melbourne, stopping a few days in Shepperton before booking into Ashleigh Gardens Caravan Park to await our ferry crossing. After a lengthy boarding process and a smooth crossing we are now here in Tasmania and stopping at our first free camp which is just out of Burnie on the north coast.
