Day 1 - Traveling can be really painful
Bayonne, France
Did I ever mention I hate flying? 8 hrs sitting on a seat that hurts your butt was just about the end of me. Of course I'm told I have no butt so I can't figure out why I'm in so much agony. I was able to follow that up with 3 hrs standing upright on a concrete slab at the Paris train station. For dessert I opted for a 6 hr train ride from a car that you couldn't see out of and that was 80 degrees.
We arrived in Bayonne at dinner time and checked into a hotel room that has no air conditioning or fan and it is 90 degrees inside. But the view is nice.
Tomorrow we take a 1 hr train to our starting point - St Jean Piedmont De Port which means base of the mountain - for some reason that should concern me I think.
We're happy to be near our starting point. I think i will take a cold shower and go to bed.
