Cam and De do Australia
Hamilton Island is a relatively small Island just off the coast of Airlie Beach and is part of the Whitsunday Islands, and although we did have to high tail it to get there it was well worth it. With a wedding not to be missed and family and friends to catch up with we were more than excited to finally get there. We met up with Bec, Steve Kyle and Jake first at Airlie Beach and had the opportunity to catch up and get some swim time in. Airlie beach was a cute little tourist town mostly built on tourism, as it is the Gateway to the Whitsunday Islands it is certainly a busy place. We spent most of our time in the pool and puttering around the cute little town.
Finally the morning came to board the boat and take the ferry across to Hamilton Island, with baby blue water and clear sky's it was a beautiful half hour trip and a great opportunity to see the Whitsunday Islands. We arrived in Hamilton Island and it had the cutest little village feel. With there being no cars and only golf buggies for transport it was a pretty unique experience. It actually felt a bit like Lake Louise but warm and tropical and Palm trees instead of Pines.
Kiona and Fitzy had a beautiful intimate beach front wedding with perfect weather and almost no hiccups. (Other than miss Kiona having black eyeliner smeared all over her white dress minutes before walking down the isle!) It was a great night spent catching up with friends and maybe having a few too many wines. But I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time so it was well worth it!
Sadly it all went far too quickly and soon enough we were back on the ferry over to Airlie beach where we spent a few more days before heading up to Townsville.
Although our time with family was winding down we still had a chance to enjoy Townsville and have a quick look around.
