Daly Waters was a place we had to stop to find something Chris and Sheona had left there for us a couple years ago. What a funny little pub! This is truly making the best out of a little outback pub. Upon arriving a older gentleman showed us to our caravan site on his bike with a stuffed horse perched up on op of it. Then we decided to hit up happy hour and get our $3.50 glass of wine and pot of beer. The cheapest booze I think we've found anywhere. We booked in for a beef and barra bbq that night and started the search for the picture and message Chris and Sheona had left for us. There was so much to go through! People leave everything from there licenses, health cards, clothes and even bras and undies! Anything they can think of I guess. Made for a very interesting glass of wine. Well soon enough we had ppl helping us try to find this photo of Murphy but to no avail, so we spent the rest of the night drinking and listening to stories from the friends we had met. Our buddies for most of the night were on a pig hunting trip, getting into the most remote places in the outback. They had some great experiences and stories to tell. Eventually moving up from drinking wine to alcoholic slushies it became a weird and wonderful night! The morning was just a bit slower that expected thats for sure.
A huge day of driving was ahead of us so after some birthday pancakes and coffee we hit the road and didn't stop again until we got to a roadside stop…but our fridge did not want to start on gas so back in the car again to find some power. Barrow creek was the next stop and wow we thought Daly waters was interesting, this place was in a whole different realm, it was like going back in time. They had a similar idea as Daly Waters (apparently they had started it) and to give credit the guy there had bags of things people had left him from every country and probably knew more facts about Canada than I did. Unfortunately the place was falling apart at the seams though. The memorabilia they had was amazing but the place itself hadn't been changed or fixed up at all since it was built. After being warned about walking to the toilets at night for fear of deadly snakes and being shown the ones they had caught there! We carefully head back to the caravan to have a couple wines and relax in our little home for the night. Seeing as we didn't have reception all day it was nice to get to have a bit of a chat with a few people for my birthday:)
