The last 3 weeks in Australia have seen a great change to my stay, as I have found myself a job. Now in my third week of labouring, I have began a bit of a work routine (boring), however the income will be really helpful and should mean I can travel more around Australia.
Having advertised my limited skills and experience, near enough all over NSW, I had little job possibilities, but due to my all-embracing, dazzling personality I landed myself a job through my friend, Shawn Bridges, who also plays cricket for MPSDCC. Although a job title has not been officially given to me, I'm fairly certain it was agreed that it would be "Hardcore Labourer". All joking aside, its really interesting to be involved in a hotel renovation project and I enjoy learning about aspects of various labour crafts. The work can be fairly physical and strenuous, including unloading a variety of heavy deliveries (such as 160 fridges), digging a number of holes ready for the plumbers, cleaning up after 'sparkys' and carpenters and helping Shawn with ground maintenance. However, it is all worth it, as having some extra cash is really helpful and means I can have a better social life and overall better time in Australia. Since starting, I have proceeded to work 5 days a week for the last 3 weeks, starting early at 7am I work until 3pm in the afternoon, a long day, but the free lunch (which I usually choose to be rump steak and chips) and the free unlimited jugs of coke definitely help me through it.
Other than working, I am continuing to play cricket. Over the last few weeks I have trained every Wednesday and played matches on Saturday and Sunday, leaving me little time to chill out or experience more of Australia. However, after Christmas I will most likely work less so I can do some day visits to local tourist attractions.
Unfortunately there isn't a huge amount more things I can write about. I continue to enjoy casual drinks/steak Mondays with the cricket guys on a Monday evening at the Cross Roads. Also I have been out in the city a few times and had a few evening BBQs, to celebrate various birthdays of friends. Elsewhere I'm still working on some personal fitness to try and keep myself fit for cricket and work.
Finally, with the spare time I had before I found work, I took time to create a Queenstown video. Please feel free to watch, and I hope you enjoy it;
