We flew into thailand so that upon arrival we would receive a 1 month visa to explore the country rather than a 2 week visa if entering by land. Flying into Phuket was so beautiful. All we could see was White sand, blue water and green hills. phuket is the largest island in thailand but is so big it dosent feel like an island at all. It took us 45minutes drive from the airport to our guest house in Patong beach. We had a private room here which was nice but there wasn't much of a social scene so we went out alot more. The beach was packed with umbrellas and chairs for the tourists to use but there was a charge of $9 a day. There are also alot of
water sports and activites along the beach. Jet skiing, parasailing etc.
We went to the Fantasea show which is famous in Thailand. It was like a mini amusement park with elephant rides, Tigers and games. Our ticket included a free buffet dinner which was delicious!! The show was Sh*t. But overall we had a good night. I also got a free balloon. Our second activity in phuket was a 1 day Speed boat tour to Phi Phi island, Khai Island and Maya Bay. This was the best day yet. We stopped off at a few places along the way to swim and snorkel before going to Phi Phi Lay for lunch.(All inclusive.) Then we were taken to caves where scenes from pirates of the carribean was filmed and then to Maya Bay which is the beach where they filmed "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio! This bay was gorgeous! I could have easily stayed here forever. Unfortunately we had to leave to visit khai Island. This used to b a sucluded island but now is a spot for many tourists to stay.
The rest of our stay on Phuket consisted of shopping, bargaining and drinking. We booked ourselves in for a 5 hour bus/2 hour boat trip to Koh Samui!
