After 6 nights in Kuala Lumpur we caught the bus to Penang which is north Malaysia. My friend Lina from Hamilton Island came too. In Penang we also stayed at a Reggae hostel which is owned by the same guy as Reggae mansion KL. Our first day in Penang we hired a car and drove around the island stopping at a small fishing village for lunch also at a huge fruit farm and a damn. We drove to a snake temple which was nice but displayed beside the temple were real snakes. A few guys were trying to sell us snake photos where we could hold up to 3 snakes at a time. Only Lina was brave enough to do this so we stood beside her and watched. There was also a snake farm which had over 50 snakes on display. Including a big fat yellow python. We went to the night markets at Batu Ferringi which is their most popular beach. The markets there were spread out along the main street selling absolutely everything. For dinner we went to Hard Rock cafe. It blew our budget but we really enjoyed our large American meals. The next day before we had to give the car back, we went to the famous Penang hill. We got on a tram which took us up 850m all the way up to the top. When we got to the top, all we could see was clouds. I think it would be very good on a clear day. We stayed in Penang for a total of 3 nights and our hostel was an awesome place to stay. There was an older guy there 'Charlie' who was very helpful and funny, I don't think it would have been the same without him. On our last day we said goodbye to Lina who was heading back to KL and we packed our bags and headed to the airport for our flight to Phuket.
