National Lampoon's European Vacation
Well Krakow is not offered as an image for this site and i keep forgetting to bring my camera to the internet cafes. So instead the matador and Switz are our images. But it really should be because it is a beautiful city. There is so much rich history at every corner (tons of Gothic architecture for me) and cheap wonderful peirogies. (Im a horrible speller). We ate and drank like kings and queens for under $120 FOR 5 DAYS!!! Thank you currency conversions. The old jewish section, Kazmierez, is a bit dodgy but great flee markets. The other side of town has a large square full of gothic structures, shops, resturants....our hostel. The other thing is that there are hundreds of parks all throughout the city. So we easily escaped the hustle and bustle. The country joined the EU in May causing so much construction to rebuild the city. Cobblestone streets and more parks. Its is really beautful. Pretzles on the street (for about 10 cents) will keep you full until dinner. Krakow also has a large castle ontop of a hill with a dragon's lair. That was alot of fun
Our third day we went to Auschwitch/Birkenou ( I know i spelled that one wrong). It was unbelieable that such a large scale extermination camp was created. You could look out at endless rows of bunks/bricked chimnys (from the ones the Nazis destoryed)
Overall...Krakow, Poland gets two thumbs up!
