Stayed overnight in Geneva and the one thing you get is a public transport pass free for as long as you stay. Took tram and bus to the united nations building and was given a guided tour. Interesting place and was told how each section operates. We all bought an eight rail pass and caught train to Interlaken. Went through Lausanne and changed at Bern for Interlaken. Very smooth ride and quiet and all transport runs on time. Good part in Geneva is that there is one lane for buses and taxis. Out of Geneva the alps stand out and make the Grampians look like speed jumps. Snow still covers the top and saw some people with skis. Police are on trains and tickets are checked regularly. Arrive Interlaken not a big town but has casino and view from apartment looks straight at Jungfrau really great view. Apartment is three bedroom and to me seems cheap the only thing in Switzerland so far. Ann's brother and wife are also here so going out for dinner. There is also a Hooters here which seems strange. Languages include English German and French.
In the photos there is two of a Chinese tapestry donated to united nations. You can see as with the Mona Lisa it doesn't matter where you stand the road always faces you. The coloured some is icicles hanging from the roof and in total weighs 23500 kgs. It was done by a spaniard and the colors reflect the different way each culture sees things.
Got to apartment and after the close confines of Paris this is great. Three bedroom apartment wifi and the front windows have an imposing view of the alps with Jungfrau right in the middle although might be a little hard to see as a bit gloomy here today. Supposed to be 25 tomorrow probably go swimming after what we've been through. Had dinner in restaurant up town, although not a very big town, and it was very good although pricey I think for seven of us around 300 Aussie. Very easy to walk anywhere here and our Swiss pass also gives us access to cruises on the boats and any transport required at any time. So looking forward to going to Jungfrau and Lauterbrunnen in next day or two. Gabrielle going sky diving tomorrow.
