...we visit the beautiful Montecassino monastery and the Polish war heroes cemetery next to it: a sentimental journey
...we buy an Italian SIM card and fall victim to the seller's terrible pronunciation: I end up paying €30 instead of €13, plus the SIM card can take up to 24h to activate; as of this writing (3h) it's still dead
...we go to a supermarket and marvel at the quantity and choice of chocolate Easter eggs, which come in all shapes and sizes
...dad can't find his favorite tomato juice so he buys passata and drinks it - just as good!
...we arrive in Naples and battle crazy and chaotic traffic, which like most things somehow makes sense when it comes to Italians
...we check in, take bicycles from the hotel and set out on a downhill trip to the center (5km) - seems like a suicide mission but somehow feels safer than cycling in Brussels
...we visit the cathedral at dusk and conclude there's no better place to display your fashion choices as we spot an elegantly dressed Italian lady with an extravagant hat and sunglasses parading down of the aisles
...much to my relief I find that unlike in Rome my favorite dessert pastry - Sicilian born cannolo - is to be had in nearly every shop here
...we visit supposedly the town's best pizzeria - Sorbillo - we're lucky to be here before the opening time and stand in line so we get a table straight away. 10 minutes after we get in the place is full. The pizza is great but what really captures my attention is the desserts like mozzarella based sweets for example. Oh well next time!
...we return to our bikes where we chained them and find them intact - well almost, my lights are gone
...we cycle back to the hotel uphill - a not insignificant effort! Gaetano, hotel owner, when told about stolen lights says: well va bene, they didn't take the wheels, did they?
