Arrived in Kolkata (Calcutta) about noon. Checked into the Baptist Mission Society guest House. We are a half block from Mother Teresa's house. All of Kolkata is historic. We went down to Park Street to eat some lunch about 3:30. Had a great Indian dish of chicken and Marsala sauce. Very spicy. We are taking the rest of the day to relax. Traffic here is just like Kenya. Very chaotic. Tomorrow we visit a company taking women out of the sex trade.

This was the last day of class. We explored the meaning of success in the Christian context. we also explored cross cultural business processes and how they differ from those at home. Finally we were briefed on the field trips.My field trip is to Calcutta,India. We leave at 5:00 in the morning for a flight to Bangkok then to Calcutta. We arrive just before noon. Back to class today. Our first speaker was the CEO of a global capital fund. If we follow his advice we could qualify for ramp up financing. We then heard from a BAM practitioner who told his story of starting a travel business in Thailand. Following lunch we heard from a Singapore businessman about basic business practices and biblical foundations for business. Tomorrow is anther day.

Today is Sunday. Church was at COC which is as close to SUMC in America as you can get. It was a combined western, Thai and burmese service for their 12th anniversary. Lasted 2 hours. Gary and I are a fantastic Sunday brunch at a hotel across from ours. I had a Thai massage which was wonderful. This evening we went to the Sunday night walking bazaar with Blake Stanton. Today was adventure day. First we went to the elephant camp. There we watched a cool show with elephants playing soccer and basketball. They also paint. You would not believe how good these paintings are. Some sell for as much as $10,000. After the show we rode elephants for 30 minutes. What a rush. We are only just beginning.
