Travel Trivia: How often do you have to divide 1,200 picture in half to get 5? Only 8 times. Only.
Today was our last full day on the boat. We had a great morning walk on Punta Pitt (no relationship to Jolie or Brad), followed by an easy cruise out to our final destination. The afternoon was filled with checkout procedures (just making sure everybody knows who needs to be where when why to do what), and after a brief snorkel with "sure to encounter sharks" (and we did, a large school of black tips), we repacked our bags in preparation for the second part of the trip.
I'm just going to say it. I've been away from work for 18 days, and am really getting used to it. If I could sustain this lifestyle, I certainly would. But alas, such is not my fortune (in more ways than one).
Our day was, as described above, really easy. The only difficult task that required some serious thinking was to deliver 5 (no more) pictures to the NatGeo photographer so he could make a slideshow out of each passenger's top-5. Do you know how hard it is to distill 1,200 pictures down to 5? Sure, you only have to cut half 8 times. But really, do you realize how difficult that is? I had to make some major concessions and drop some really great shots (as did Liz), just to make it 5 (Liz made it 6, but she's in sales). Hard choices, but we made it. Can't wait for you guys to see everyone's top-5. There's some really great stuff out there!
Keeping it short for tonight because (1) it was a quite day, and (2) I spent 4hrs trying to come up with my top-5 pictures, so not that much to talk about. Off to Guayaquil (mainland) tomorrow morning and Lima (Peru) tomorrow evening. Will collect thoughts and probably skip another day posting.
Keep well, and a special cheer out to Chris and Erin who are living the live in Spain right now.
