Travel trivia: Is less more? Yes, less is more. I met a couple on the larger National Geographic Endeavor. They did a smaller cruise to Alaska with NG and said it was more personal, and they wish they had booked the smaller Islander. Glad we did.
Two final dives today before I fly to Quito tomorrow and hookup with Liz and Celeste. I am leaving the Galapagos without having seen hammerheads with my own two (or one) eye(s). Disappointing, though I did dive with a giant manta ray, several schools of other rays, more barracudas on any single dive than I had seen in all of my pre-Galapagos dives combined, turtles big and small and some whitetip sharks, and we've been playfully addressed by sea lions 4 out of 8 dives. Good trip, I say.
I met a mother/daughter dive couple from Brazil, a Ontarian celebrating her 40s with a dive, an Californian diver and a Swedish giant who lives in Singapore. I tell you, I've never met so many different nationalities (and personalities!) diving. Australia, Asia, Europe, South America, North America. Just missing Africa and Antartica. Highlight of the day: I sat at the boardwalk and finished my book (a Harlan Coben - funny crime writer you should check out) while having a coffee-vanilla float. Now I'm checked out :)
