Hello, We are on our last day in New Zealand now and we can't believe its over already we hired the campervan for 22 days which have flown by. This country truly is the most beautiful place in the world, the scenery has been stunning constantly from the north to the south and everyday has been different. While driving through new zealand you are either driving along the winding coast roads overlooking the sea or through the central snow capped mountains following crystal blue rivers.
We picked the van up in Auckland and headed north up the east coast then over to the west coast and back down through Auckland again over to Rotorua through the Tongaria National Park to Picton where we took the ferry over to Wellington. We spent 5 days in the north island, we did it pretty quick as we had been warned that the south was far more impressive and to save more time for there. We took the ferry over to Picton then drove through the Marlborough Vineyard region following the Wairau River over to the West coast. Now I'm not going to explain how beautiful each place was and how amazing the views were as believe me every corner we drove round really did take our breath away, the further south we drove each day the scenery got better and better and I hope from the pics you will see for yourselves. We drove all down the westcoast to Franz Josef where we spent Halloween and did the glazier walk. It was here that Aaron did a horizontal bungy across a bar and picked up a pint of beer and downed it on his bungy back in 10seconds which put him in 2nd place which meant he won a free vertical 43 metre bungy in Queenstown. The glazier walk was loads of fun, very cold but we were provided with all the walking equiptment, it was quite a hike but we only touched the tip of the glazier in 2 hours it takes 2 days to walk it fully. Queenstown was our favourite town it is a place made for adreniline junkies as all there is to do there are extreme activities such as sky dives, bungies, white water rafting etc. We decided to go for it and do the most extreme one and booked ourselves on for a sky dive, I really don't know how to ever decribe what its like to jump out of a plane but its definately the scariest thing we have ever done and the best feeling in the world. We both have a DVD of the whole thing so you can have a laugh at my wobbly cheeks as I free fall and Burts kicking his legs like mad, It looks like he was trying to swim down to the ground, oh yeh and lots of swear words. After doing that it was hard for anything to top it apart from the Ferg Burgers in Queenstown, seriously they are the best burgers in the world, to prove how good they are Aaron had 3 in 1 day!!!!! Dunedin was next where we did the Cadbury factory tour where we were shown round by a very jolly lady named Colleen who quized you on cadbury facts and gave you a chocolate bar if you got the answer correct, we were right at the front and top of the class!!!!
So now we are in Christchurch just getting ready to fly to Thailand in the morning, New Zealand has been awesome but it is as cold as the UK here so we are looking forward to some more sunshine before we make the last leap home!!!
Hope everyone is all good back home, if you ever get the chance get yourselves to New Zealand you wont be dissapointed but just don't forget your hat and coat.
