DAY 2: SKYLINES AND SKYSCRAPERS
Big day of sightseeing today.
We started by making our way down North Michigan Ave, also referred to as 'The Magnificent Mile' (magnificent if you had a liking to shopping that is).
We soon found ourselves at the John Hancock Centre and its 94th floor observation deck. Unfortunately the morning weather started to close in, but not before we got a few happy snaps that only such a vantage point could provide.
Before we left though, Josh was hell bent on giving a unique attraction on the observation deck a go. 'Tilt' is a section of the floor where you lean up against a window pane and put your life in the hands of hydraulics, as the window tilts outwards giving you the sensation of what it would feel like to lean out at 60 degrees and look down from 94 floors up. Josh somewhat understandably had a last second change of heart, backing away from the glass as soon as the music started up, leaving it to me to go through the pants-changing experience!
Next stop was Navy Pier. We took advantage of the sudden sunny skies by taking some pics of Chicago's skyline from the top of a monster ferris wheel before grabbing some lunch.
After that we dropped the pace a notch by taking a river cruise that wound its way through the city as we heard more about its famous history and buildings.
To round out the day we returned to the pier to take in the final Saturday night fireworks of the season.
As said, it was a big day!
