Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
After 2 awful AA flights we arrived in Mexico. One of our flights was cancelled. Thankfully we got to our hotel safe and sound at midnight, to switch on the tv and to our delight the england match was just starting. At last a football result to cheer about. Sunday we took a stroll around the Zona Rosa near our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised, similar look and feel to other spanish cities. Lots of tourist police around, all trying to help and of course take any commission earned on any excursions. Monday we were true tourists and went on the open top bus tour ride around the city. We got off at the Zocola and historic centre. Here the streets brim with lots of very old historic buildings, in total contrast to what we have seen so far on our trip. We went in the cathedral and as tourists we were allowed free entry to roam around the government buildings, including the national palace. Ancient buildings, with wacky/bizarre murals painted on the walls and huge hidden courtyards inside, offering peace and quiet from the streets outside. We took a walk through the market, streets packed full of stalls selling almost evrything you can imagine. The bus tour also took us through a huge park, here Jill had to constantly duck out of the way of passing trees, however she didnt manage to duck the bird poo that landed on her arm!
