We were heading to Koh Lanta today! We were gutted to leave Koh Lipe as it is just the most gorgeous tranquil island but there wasn't much left to do there. The boat journey was 6 hours long. We watched the Kardashians and had a nap. I actually quite enjoy the long journeys because it gives me time to really think and reflect on the whole trip and myself as a person. I feel at 25 I pretty much know who I am and I haven't come away for three months to 'find myself' but I definitely think I'm growing as a person. Also apparently I'm 5'3 now so I have actually physically grown an inch too! I feel that I've had time to think about my life at home and what I really want from life, but also what's actually important to me. Coming away has taught me that some of the things I thought were crucial to my day to day life, actually I can live without, but also, it's shown me things that I really miss but don't pay much attention to at home. As much as I'm having the most amazing time here, I actually have an amazing life back home too, one I'm really excited to get back to! I have the most incredible family that I could have ever wished for and amazing close friends, good health, a job I love in a hospital I love, I can come and go as I please with no unwanted commitments and no real stress for now! I've travelled parts of the world I've always wanted to. How lucky am I!
After all that headspace and deep thought, we got off the ferry, had lunch and caught a taxi to the hostel Sam and Lindsey were already staying at. We were completely ripped off in the taxi. The guy wanted 600 baht for a 25 minute drive so we managed to get it down to 500. Anyway, he went out of his way for us and we felt a bit bad so agreed to give him the 600 in the end. However, when we saw Sam and Lindsey, they told us the same journey only cost them 100 baht! Ahhh man! Anyway, we managed to get a double room again at a hotel called the Lanta Nature Beach Resort for the 3 of us so it only cost us 500 baht a night between us which works out to be £3 a night! That's the cheapest so far! It was pretty basic obviously but better than the last place and we were paying double! We had some dinner at the hotel restaurant, followed by lots and lots of piña coladas! We then headed to the hotel bar on the beach. We chilled and danced for a bit and had a go at learning how to fire dance (minus the raging fire). After, I FaceTimed my dad on his brand spanking new laptop. It was nice to speak to him on his own as I haven't done that much in this trip. We caught up and tried to organise my trip to Hong Kong. I loved seeing him! Once I got back to the room, the girls were freaking out as there was a massive frog in our bathroom. Sarah had got the cockroach out of the last situation and Masa was an absolute wimp in the corner of the room squealing like a child so I took it upon myself to be the hero in this situ! It was jumping all over the place and refused to go back down the drain it came from so I got the sweeping brush and force it outside into the balcony! By this point it was nearly 01.30 am, we were all nackered from all of squealing, so headed to bed!
