Cuba - More than old cars
Weather: sunny 27º C
Mileage: 330 Km; Total 2,670 kms
Not much to tell about today. Hit the road to Barcelona avoiding the toll roads as usual and what did we strike – truck after truck after truck – on both sides of the road. It was one lane each way and not one passing lane for the first 150 kms after which it was a 2 lane divided highway. Probably averaged 70 kmph in a 90 zone so what else is there to do but look at the scenery and there was not much to look at there.
Very flat and as it turns out we were initially on a plateau which dropped (8 degreee slope according to the road sign) to a flat land which eventually dropped (6 degree slope) to another flat land and then again (6 degree slope) to another one. See, told you there was not much going on. Eventually as we approached Barcelona we noticed this rocky outcrop/hill which turned out to be Montserrat, which we hope to visit in the next few days.
Arrived, checked into the hotel and took the car back to the rental company for the week that we are here. Car checked out ok – phew, no dents or scratches. Walked back to the hotel and caught up with David and Leslie from Australia. They are doing a tour of Spain, Portugal and Morocco before heading for Ireland and Scotland. We organised to meet in Barcelona for a few days before they head for Madrid and the start of their tour. We have lots of information for them as they are going to some of the places we have been.
That’s it – early night.
